Cheer At the Nest!

Squads participating in competition will be broken down into the following divisions/categories:

• Kindergarten 
• 1st Grade 
• 2nd Grade
• 3rd Grade
• 4th Grade
• 5th Grade
• 6th Grade

1. All squads will perform a cheer/dance combination. This combo may be an original cheer or combination of chants/cheers along with dance. Coaches are responsible for music. Music must be emailed to ChelseaCheerBoosters@gmail.com by October 13, 2025. Please list Coach’s Name/Squad. DJ will format music prior to competition.
   - Grades K-6th will require at least one (1) jump. 
2. Each routine shall not exceed 2 minutes and 30 seconds (5 sec window of forgiveness). Timing will begin with the first sound of music or recognized word. Squads will not enter the floor until the timekeeper indicates judges are prepared. The timekeeper will wave a pom to indicate the judges are ready for the next squad to take the floor and begin their routine. 
3. Participants may enter the floor in an orderly and timely manner. Squads will exit when the routine is finished. Squad participants only, will be allowed on the floor at any time.
4. The following props will be allowed: poms, megaphones, flags and signs (no larger than 3’x3’). Absolutely no tear away or removable clothing! 
5. Coaches/Trainers/Sponsors are to remain in the designated, marked area on the field. 
6. Coaches may not approach or speak to judges at any time.
7. There will be no tape, bandages, or braces permitted on any cheerleader participating in the competition without prior board approval, a doctor’s release and a notarized written consent of parent releasing Chelsea HS Cheer from all liability. 
8. No tripods are allowed in stands or in front of stands. 
9. There will be an original copy of score sheets made on competition day. Directors from each squad will receive a copy of the original within 5 business days. 
10. Squads must have at least five (5) cheerleaders to compete. Judging will be based on performance not squad size. 
11. No jewelry of any kind will be permitted. All squads should be in complete matching uniforms, including top, skirt, bow and socks. Shoes should be the same color. 
12. Scoring for squads shall include the following categories: Cheer and Crowd Engagement, Jumps (1 required, Motions and Choreography, Game-Day Elements, Overall Performance/Spirit. Each category will be worth a possible twenty (20) points from each judge. 
13. Stunting and Tumbling is allowed but NOT required. There is NOT a Scoring category for stunting or tumbling. Scoring on stunting and tumbling will be reflected in the Cheer and Crowd Engagement and Overall Performance categories. 
14. Should there be a tie in points for a division/category, it will be up to the judges discretion to determine the overall winner.
